Qatar Masters Open 2023 | Round 9

On October 10-20, the chess elite gathers in Doha, Qatar, the for the third edition of the Qatar Masters, organized by the Qatar Chess Association. The ten-day tournament will feature 250 players from 42 countries, including 62 GMs. The stellar lineup includes five-time world champion, world number 1 Magnus Carlsen, world #3 Hikaru Nakamura, world #7 Anish Giri, and many others.

The prize fund of the event is $108,250, with $25,000 reserved for the winner, $15,000 for second place and $10,000 for third place.

  1. Yes, terrible decisions in the last few days with the commentary breaks…missing so many key moments like Erigaisi's blunder. It was a fascinating game and they also didn't fully explain the only real mistake from Abdusattorov when he played 28.Ng4 instead of Bxe5 and the line after Qxf1, Rxf1, Bxe1 and Bf3. A sad end of the game honestly, would have been nicer to see Nodirbek win cause he found all the line after 28.Bxe5 and not cause Arjun blundered a rook but it's what it is. Incredible calculation by both nevertheless, very apparent how amazing it was when you see IMs and a GM like the commentators struggle to understand the critical lines. Very high level game.
